I first found out about Dutch graphic artist and screenprinter Harmen Liemburg a few years ago when he was a resident faculty member at MCAD and brought his screenprinting class over for a tour of the Burlesque print shop. Since then I've been following his fantastic, brightly-colored, pop-culture-saturated, collage-heavy designs on his website, where he also documents his inspirations and design process for most of his projects. Back in April 2011, my wife and I took a trip to Amsterdam. When I told Harmen I was going to be in town, he invited us to check out his studio, which is right in the middle of a largely artist-populated warehouse district, accessible by ferry from the Northern edge of Amsterdam's central district. Our friends Doomtree have released their latest album ""No Kings,"" just in time for their seventh annual Blowout concert at First Avenue. The whole crew is taking over 5 straight nights in the 7th Street Entry and 2 nights in the mainroom. With the help of friends like Brother Ali, Astronautalis, Sage Francis, Kill The Vultures, Andrew Broder, I Self Devine, Ice Rod, and even Hannibal Burress, the crew is really doing something special with these nights. So with that in mind, we wanted to do something special for the poster. Wes Winship based his art on the ""No Kings"" album cover and concept, building up an ornate image of a crown made up of all of the show information - and for 7 consecutive nights with a zillion different guests, there is a LOT of show information - and then ghostbustering it out with a series of hand-painted, hand-inked,...
