LIKE WE ALWAYS DO ABOUT THIS TIME... don't you even think about missing out on the TENTH annual Dre Day celebration! That's right, we've been throwing the biggest and baddest celebration of the music and legacy of hip hop icon Dr. Dre every February since 2003 and here we are a decade later, still going strong. We're back at Triple Rock Social Club with an exclusive performance from Heiruspecs-based LBC Drama Club. They'll be putting together a live musical tribute to the doctor and, if you've caught Heiruspecs doing their thing at any of the past Dre Days, you KNOW this is not to be missed. We've also got Jimmy 2 Times and Plain Ole Bill from Get Cryphy on the turntables, cuttin' it up like only they can. Heiru's own Felix will be on the mic throughout playing host all night. And of course we'll have giveaways, 40s, brand...

Thanks to everyone who tuned in to our very first Spotlight Series interview with James White. We're picking up right now with episode two, shining the spotlight on our friend Justin Thomas Kay. Justin first came into our radar in 2004 when he phoned up the Burlesque office to ask us to create an editorial illustration of rapper Common to be featured in Complex magazine. From there, we quickly fell in love with his type and design skills and we've stayed in touch over the years, collaborating on several projects under his art direction. Read on! Please introduce yourself to our corner of the world wide web. My name is Justin Kay. Or Justin Thomas Kay. The use of my middle name is my dad's fault - both in that his name was Thomas, and in that he applied his middle name to his art. I ripped him off. So...

Tomorrow night is the first of four opening nights of Working Title, the new group art show in CO Exhibitions, the gallery space run by Permanent Art & Design and ourselves. We've invited about a dozen local artists to bring in their partially-finished artwork, trade them with each other, and add their own creative touches to everyone else's pieces. The results of this creative experiment will be going on display Saturday January 21, 7-10pm at CO Exhibitions. All unsold artwork from the opening night will go back into the hands of the artists, who will continue adding / subtracting / cutting / pasting in preparation for the second opening. This will continue for four weeks and will offer Twin Cities art lovers four different opportunities to come experience four different variations on the original Working Title art show. Opening night: Saturday January 21, 7-10pm Music by DJ Mike Cina Night...

Two stamps all about the Soviet Space Program. Loving the illustration style, very indicative of the era when they were created. Can anyone translate the type here?

Lots of new stuff happening now and in the very immediate future at BRLSQ. Earlier this week, we put our new personal planners and blank notebooks up for sale. Filled with plenty of helpful blank lists and organization pages and lined with one-of-a-kind test print pages, these things are not only incredibly useful, but are stylish as all get-out. With every planner, we'll also send out our build-it-yourself test print Paper Flipper! Super cool and great for any boring ass office desk. Just earlier today, we launched an all-new color scheme for our Year of the Dragon print. Proper Chinese New Year colors featuring super shiny metallic gold make this one a must-have. And now for a bit of exclusive news... this coming Tuesday, January 24, we will be kicking another one of everyone's favorites... it's the Burlesque Scratch + Dent Mystery Tube Sale! That's right - the phenomenon that...

I was super excited to find this in my inbox this morning. Sean Kelsey of St. Paul got a tattoo of my MN Pride design! This is the first time I've ever seen anything that I designed become a tattoo, so needless to say I was blown away. Shane Wallin from Twilight Tattoo did an AMAZING job making the finished piece look exactly like the print. Much respect and a million thank yous to Sean and Shane for making this happen!
