Here's our brand new screenprinted poster for local electronic soul outfit Poliça. Featuring a blazing hot who's-who lineup of some of Minneapolis' most beloved musicians, these guys exploded out the gate, taking not just the city but the entire nation by storm with their airy, dreamlike sounds. Wes Winship's design captures the floating feeling of the group's music and you can pick up a copy when they perform this Saturday outside The Cabooze.

We recently did a little bit of screenprinting work for local purveyors of reissued classic music, Secret Stash Records. For their official reissue of Pazy & The Black Hippies' 1978 afrobeat album ""Wa Ho Ha,"" the team at Secret Stash asked us to whoop up some screenprinted jackets. We were happy to oblige. Watch the video above to hear some of the music and check out this Minneapolis-based record label to learn more about the great projects they've been working on and have coming up!

We've known UK rapper Scroobius Pip has been a fan of our Piss shirt for some time now. A friend of ours just put us up on some hot Hollywood gossip that he's been dating popular tattoo artist Kat Von D. Here's a photo which recently showed up on her Instagram of the man sporting the Piss shirt while holding, in his mouth, a photograph of himself sporting the same shirt. Cheers, you crazy lovebirds!

Today is August 8, also known as 8/08, so we figured today would be a pretty good day to celebrate one of the greatest and most influential musical instruments of our generation, the Roland TR-808 drum machine. Released into the world in 1980, the synthesized drum sounds featured a never-before-heard ultra low bass frequency which would go on to rattle speakers and forever change the spectrum of modern music. So turn your speakers UP and enjoy some of our favorite songs featuring the legendary 808! Yellow Magic Orchestra ""1000 Knives"" One of the first, if not the absolute very first, songs / performances to feature the 808. Egyptian Lover, one of the godfathers of West Coast Electro. Sir Mix-A-Lot ""Posse On Broadway"" The 808 kick drum makes the girlies get dumb. 2 Live Crew ""Throw The D"" Sissy Nobby ""Runnin Booty"" New Orleans Bounce keepin' the bass alive and percolatin'....

Last week we asked all of our readers to tell us which painting or album cover from John Baizley they'd like to see us develop into a mult-color screenprinted art print. Well, the people have spoken and the print with the largest number of votes, by a considerable margin, was the artwork for Skeletonwitch's Permafrost album. We will be working with Mr. Baizley over the next several weeks to prepare this beast to go to press and will be keeping you all updated as we move forward with production and release information.
Thanks to everyone for all of your input!

As you may have noticed, we've been printing quite a lot of prints with the incredibly talented John Baizley. We've been working closely with John to bring his watercolor paintings to the world as multi-color screenprinted art prints. From Black Tusk's ""Passage Through Purgatory"" to Tiger Tiger ""Cut Them Where They Bleed"" to the recent Kvelertak print, it's been a thrill to see Baizley's artwork come to life on our presses. So what's next? Well, that's where you come in. That's right, we want YOU to tell US what to print next! Is there a John Baizley painting you've seen and would love to own as a limited edition, signed & numbered art print? Tell us which painting or album cover of Baizley's you'd like to see us print next! There are two ways to vote... 1) Send an email to vote@burlesquedesign.com with either the title of the painting /...

We just completed a concert poster for Tenacious D's July 26, 2012 performance at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater. For this mammoth occasion, our own Mike Davis assembled this design featuring brothers-in-rock Kyle and Jack clad like mountain-top warriors, flocked with buxsome fighter women, ready to take on the world.
Pick up your copy Thursday at Red Rocks or in our online store on Tuesday July 31st.
Here are some behind-the-scenes sketches from the creation of this poster:
